Directing

Rachel has been the Director, Co Director, or Assistant Director for eight productions to date. Her favourite experiences are with directing Pantomimes, but she has also in recent years expanded into more comedies and period dramas. She loves collaboration, and while she comes to every rehearsal with a plan for how she envisions every scene, she loves being able to throw it away if the actors come up with their own better ideas.

The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde Adapted by Merlin Holland and John O’Connor

Norwich Players - Maddermarket Theatre - June 2026
This experience has been really educational, being my first directing experience outside of academia. As Assistant Director I've learnt a lot from my director Claire Stretton and she really encouraged me to take responsibility for some scenes and encouraged my ideas. When we have rehearsal and production photos they will be uploaded here.

Our House: The Madness Musical

UEA Drama and Musical Theatre Society - UEA Drama Studio - March 2025
Our House was a fantastic challange and taught me a lot. The cast were insanely talented, but my experience was truly made by the incredible work of the Music Director Ollie Swift and the choreographer Karla Bolton. Together we collaborated to create a fantastic show,

Pirates of the Caribbean Panto by Gemma Downing

UEA Pantomime Society - The LCR Norwich - March 2023

This performance is still one of my favourite projects. It was such a joy to work on: the cast were creative and so good to each other. The script was hysterical and the writer was amazing to work with as a producer and enjoyed the suggestions of myself and my AD. The only down side was when the roof of our venue collapsed two weeks before the show and so our performance was delayed two months as we located a new venue. But the performance went brilliantly and I couldn't be prouder of this lot. That May we won the Society Award for Best Student Led Event of the Year.

Adam by Lizzie Martin

Minotaur Theatre - Shorts Festival - October 2021
Adam was a great short play to work on as Co-Director; its fascinating take on the story of Frankenstein gave insight into the heart and trauma of family expectations.

The Man in the Bowler Hat - By A.A. Milne November 2018 - House Plays
This was my directorial debut, and I learnt a lot from this experience in leadership, organisation and team working. The play was funny, and had moments of slapstick Unfortunately I have no photos or videos to record here.
